Evaluation Framework

Assessment Weightage Architecture

Aaranya University departs from rigid rote learning by implementing a balanced continuous formative evaluation model. Every semester course is evaluated through two distinct streams:

1. Continuous Internal Evaluation (CIE)

40%

Ongoing formative assessment administered throughout the semester:

  • Mid-Semester Written Examination: 15%
  • Case Studies, Lab Practicals, Studio Crits & Term Papers: 15%
  • Unannounced Conceptual Quizzes & Seminar Presentations: 10%

2. End-Semester Examination (ESE)

60%

Comprehensive summative evaluation conducted in proctored exam halls:

  • Centralized Written Theory Examination (3 Hours): 50%
  • External Viva-Voce / Practical Jury Examination: 10%
Academic Eligibility

Attendance & Hall Ticket Rules

75%

Mandatory Minimum Attendance

Per individual course unit

No student shall be allowed to appear in the End-Semester Examination of a course unless they have attended at least 75% of the total instructional sessions delivered in that course.

Medical Condonation: The Dean of the School may condone attendance shortages up to a maximum of 10% (i.e. between 65% and 74.9%) strictly on grounds of certified hospitalization or representing the University at national conferences.

Hall Ticket Issuance

Admit Cards / Hall Tickets are generated online via the Student SIS portal 7 days prior to examination commencement, subject to zero fee dues and library clearance.

Computation Methodology

SGPA & CGPA Mathematical Formula

Semester Grade Point Average (SGPA) is the weighted average of the grade points obtained in all registered courses in a term:

SGPA = Σ(Course Credit × Grade Point) / Σ(Total Course Credits)

CGPA to Percentage Conversion Formula:
As per Aaranya University Statute 12.4, official percentage equivalent is computed as:
Equivalent Percentage (%) = CGPA × 9.5

Conferment of Honors

Academic Grievance & Recourse

Script Inspection & Re-evaluation Protocols

To preserve uncompromising transparency and student trust, the Office of the Controller of Examinations maintains a structured 3-tier post-result review mechanism:

Step 1 (Within 7 Days)

Photocopy / Digital Script Inspection

Students apply online to receive an unredacted evaluated copy of their answer booklet alongside the official scoring rubric.

Step 2 (Within 14 Days)

Independent Re-Evaluation

Script is blinded and dispatched to an external professor from a premier central institution. Revised marks supersede previous score if deviation exceeds 5%.

Step 3 (Continuous)

Supplementary Re-Exams

Special supplementary exams are held during the winter/summer breaks so scholars with backlogs can graduate on schedule without losing an academic year.
